LIMA, PERU

Hogar de la Sagrada Familia is a haven for abandoned children living in the outskirts of Lima. ALEGRIA supports La Sagrada Familia through arts education and sustainable resources that allow the children to thrive.

Thirty years ago, Miguel Rodriguez began the community by taking in 4 children from the streets of Lima. Four turned into ten and soon became many more. As of 2012, he now loves, cares for, and educates 900 children.

Our short film shares how Miguel Rodriguez founded the orphanage community, the ALEGRIA story of Lima and New York ALEGRIA artists collaborating with the incredibly talented children of La Sagrada Familia, and how art empowers youth to re-imagine what's possible for their lives. Thank you for joining us in re-imagining what is possible for youth in underserved communities.
